about

Harking back to the decaying digital delay loop technique I used on my Guitar EP (recorded 2000) each piece morphs through intuitive progressions from each section to the next. Dedicated to American Minimalists Riley and Reich, both of whom inspired the keyboard improvisations which became this album.

'Friend and collaborator Jim Tetlow, with whom I was half of Tetlow and Broadhurst on 19 albums - offered me as a poet, an unmissable collaboration of constructing 10 lines as titles for a solo project of his. Ten lines that would function independently as One Line poetic moments - and together form an 11th poem that could stand alone. I have never done anything like it, to that degree before. He also said the title of the works must be that of his album 'Progressions' and each line to Progress. I like a challenge, so here we are. I hadn't heard the music before I wrote the piece - nor he the titles before his composition. We meshed together in his final work. An interesting and unique concept.'
Julian Broadhurst
